AC Milan vs Pisa – Match preview and team news

AC Milan and Pisa go head-to-head in Serie A on Friday night at San Siro.

The Rossoneri will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table, while the newly-promoted side is still searching for their first win of the season.

AC Milan could welcome back Christopher Nkunku after the French forward returned to full training following a toe injury. The former Chelsea striker is expected to make the bench for Friday’s clash.

Rafael Leao is set to continue in attack after scoring his first two goals of the season. The Portuguese winger netted twice in the 2-1 comeback victory over Fiorentina, including an 86th-minute penalty.

However, Milan remain without several crucial players. Adrien Rabiot is sidelined with a calf lesion and will miss at least another month. Christian Pulisic continues his recovery from a hamstring injury suffered during the USMNT’s friendly against Australia.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is struggling with a muscle strain, while Pervis Estupinan remains out with an ankle problem.

Pisa’s attacking struggles are evident – they have scored only three goals all season and failed to find the net in their last four matches. Their recent 0-0 draw at home to Verona saw them fail to register a single shot on target.

Mateus Lusuardi remains out with a knee injury, while Calvin Stengs and Tomas Esteves are unavailable due to muscle problems.

M’Bala Nzola leads the line, having scored their only away goal this season in the 2-3 defeat to Napoli.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side have found their rhythm after a shock opening day defeat to Cremonese. Milan has picked up 16 points from their last six matches to climb to the top of Serie A for the first time since September 2022.

The Rossoneri’s defensive improvement has been crucial. They have kept four clean sheets in their last six league games and conceded just four goals this season – the second-best defensive record in Serie A .

Pisa’s return to Serie A after 34 years has proven challenging. They are yet to register a win, with three draws and four defeats leaving them bottom of the table.

Their attacking output has been poor, with just three goals in seven matches – all scored away from home. Three consecutive away defeats suggest Friday’s trip will be tough.
