Amad sparkles on return to Ivory Coast team versus Kenya

Manchester United had numerous players on international duty yesterday across all corners of the map.

The young wing back has hardly been at his best this season but he was in top form in the Ivory Coast’s 3-0 victory over Kenya.

He went on a jinking run down the right hand side before playing a perfect ball through to Franck Kessie who smashed in the opener.

Amad would then seal the victory with an incredibly well taken free kick that found the right hand corner.

United fans will hope this performance is just the tonic needed for Amad to return to his form of last winter when he was unplayable for most Premier League defences.

Brazil crashed to a 2-3 friendly defeat to Japan but the United midfielder could hold his head up high.

He completed 89% of his passes and had one shot on target.

The veteran won four of his five tackles and an incredible seven out of eight ground duels in a typically combative performance.

Cunha had less of an impact on the game, playing the final 33 minutes after replacing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.

He completed 88% of his passes but none were classified as key.

Cunha is usually very effective at carrying the ball but he lost his only dribble attempt of the evening.

The 26 year old also won three out of his five ground duels but could not help his side find an equaliser.

The United captain played 62 minutes of his Portugal side’s 2-2 draw with Hungary.

Playing in an attacking midfield role, he had four key passes and completed 94% of them.

He also had one shot that unluckily hit the woodwork.

All United players will now return to Carrington to prepare for the mammoth match against Liverpool this Sunday evening.
