Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with entering the race to land one of Real Madrid's most promising talents, according to reports.
The Gunners have previously benefited from dealing with Los Blancos when, following a loan spell, they captured Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal in August 2021. The Norwegian has since gone on to become the club's captain and one of Mikel Arteta's most important players.
But now attention has turned to another Bernabeu prospect. Turkish midfielder Arda Guler joined Madrid on a six-year contract in July 2023 from Fenerbahce for £17milllion. The 20-year-old has made 10 appearances for Xabi Alonso's side so far this season, and already has three goals and as many assists to his name.
Despite a solid return, the Turkish international is playing out of his preferred attacking midfield position and according to Spanish media outlet Grada3 , six top European clubs are monitoring his situation closely. They included north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham , as well as fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle United, AC Milan, and Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
Regardless of the fierce competition, the report claims that both Spurs and the Gunners are "willing to do whatever it takes" to bring highly-rated Guler to the Premier League.
It goes on to suggest that Arsenal tried to convince him to move to north London last season when he was receiving limited game time under then-manager Carlo Ancelotti and that the player would only leave the Spanish capital for another big club competing in the Champions League.
The idea of playing in the Premier League is also believed to appeal to the former Fenerbahce man.
Guler's progress at Madrid over the current season will determine whether his future lies in Spain or if the La Liga giants are prepared to cash in on a player currently valued at £52.1milllion by Transfermarkt.
Should Alonso decide to cash out, both Arsenal and Tottenham will reportedly be at the front of the queue to make a bid.
