Arsenal still have enough time to sign a new partner in crime for Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have splashed out over £250m on new players this summer and, despite having only made about £7m in sales, they've shown no sign of slowing down ahead of the transfer window deadline on September 1.

Even after signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for around £68m, there's still room for improvement at the Emirates Stadium - and Andrea Berta knows it. Speaking to club media after announcing the 27-year-old attacking midfielder's move, the sporting director claimed that he wants to 'continue building towards success'.

"We're so pleased to have completed this deal to bring Eberechi to Arsenal," said Berta. " Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality - also a big-game player, with his experience at international level with England also underlining his quality and character.

"There has been excellent teamwork - across the club - to make this transfer happen and we are all very confident Eberechi will be an important addition to our squad as we continue to build for success."

If the Arsenal sporting director wants to further bolster Mikel Arteta's attacking options, while also bringing in cover for Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard - who suffered injuries during the 5-0 win over Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon - he should look no further than Julian Alvarez.

According to The Sun , the Atletico Madrid forward has emerged as an option as the Gunners look to manage the latest wave of injuries. Saka and Odegaard are not the only Arsenal players who face a spell in the side-lines; Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are currently out, while Ben White remains a doubt.

By signing Alvarez, Berta would be giving Arteta somebody who could play striker and attacking midfield. The Argentina international could be used in similar role to the one he played at Manchester City, where he bounced off Erling Haaland.

Alvarez would be an excellent addition, keeping the supply line to Gyokeres open - in the absence of three key players. According to 'El Chiringuito' earlier this week, the Argentinean is unhappy at Atletico, and questions have been raised among his entourage about the decision to join Diego Simeone's side.

"He has never been given the place he feels he deserves," Alvarez's representatives told the Spanish television programme, as quoted by Sport . "He's resigned and hurt because last season he scored almost 30 goals, but they placed him on the left winger to chase full-backs or substituted him at half-time.

"You can't blame Simeone because he doesn't know how to handle a star of world football.

"He's not used to it, it's our fault for taking him there. We made a mistake to go and play for Simeone's team."

Back in June, Atletico's manager was quizzed on Alvarez's future in the Spanish capital. Speaking to La Nacion , Simeone said: "It's logical, I can't imagine any other scenario.

"Julian is 25-years-old, he's an extraordinary player, with hunger, with enthusiasm, with humility, with work, with goals, with status. How could everyone not want him? And Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool... the best have to want him.

"And for us, Atletico fans, it should be a source of pride that everyone wants him.

"Why? Because he's ours. And since he's ours, we have to take care of him.

"We have to help him feel happy. How will he feel happy? By winning.

"And to get there, we all have to give 110 per cent. Not just for him, of course, but for everyone."
