Arsenal handed fresh Martin Odegaard injury update with big Liverpool implication

Martin Odegaard has not been ruled out of Arsenal's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, according to reports.

The Gunners captain was forced off in the first-half of Saturday's 5-0 win over Leeds United after suffering a shoulder injury. Odegaard had initially received treatment before being replaced by Ethan Nwaneri.

After the win, Odegaard is believed to have left the Emirates Stadium with his shoulder in a sling. Mikel Arteta admitted that the Norway international had "felt something" in his shoulder with scans planned to determine the severity of the injury.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the Gunners boss addressed the two setbacks. Arteta said: "That's the negatives of the day. Martin [Odegaard] felt something in his shoulder when he landed.

"We don't know, we'll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better."

As a result, the club postponed an event involving Odegaard at The Armoury store on Monday . Now, BBC Sport have reported that the former Real Madrid playmaker is yet to be ruled out of the trip to Merseyside.

Bukayo Saka, on the other hand, is facing three to four weeks out of action. The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the second-half at the weekend, sparking concerns that he had suffered another serious hamstring problem.

However, it's understood that he will miss the game at Liverpool as well as England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia next month.
