The curtain has almost been drawn on Andrea Berta 's first summer window at Arsenal . What a few months it has been for the Italian.

Just how well he has performed his role as sporting director will undoubtedly be judged further down the line but without the benefit of hindsight, he has helped to address all of Mikel Arteta's biggest needs. Arsenal ended last season knowing they would need a backup goalkeeper, replacements for Jorginho and Thomas Partey , cover for Bukayo Saka , and a new striker.

Berta has delivered on all of this and more. Eberechi Eze is the most recent signing and adds depth and quality off the left. The only question mark is around injuries to Saka and Kai Havertz.

How will Arteta deal with those and balance his squad across four competitions? It waits to be seen. What also waits is the deadline on Monday.

Ins

This is going to be a short one. Arsenal have been active in their recruitment, despite frustrations over a slow start, and only have one player left to buy. That man is Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.

A deal for the player has been agreed worth £45million at the end of the season with an initial loan seeing him move to north London now. Hincapie is viewed as another centre-back able to operate at left-back, much like others who have been brought in recent years.

Arsenal are working towards revamping their defence and very little else. If other deals were to crop up then it may well be adding talented youth players for further development.

Outs

This is where a lot of the focus is going to be for Arsenal. Berta has so far been unable to make serious head way with selling players and it is an area that the club need to improve on.

Compared to their rivals, Arsenal are a long way behind when it comes to generating income from player sales. Only three other teams in the Premier League have a lower record sale than Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's £40million.

That is unlikely to change this window but Arsenal could make a dent in clearing up the wider squad. There are five main players here, starting with Reiss Nelson .

Jakub Kiwior is also in talks over an exit and is closing in on going to Porto. The defender is valued highly by Arsenal, hence their insistence on getting a good fee, but with Hincapie in the waiting room and Kiwior after regular first-team minutes, a switch is very much likely.

When it comes to Porto, their former player, Fabio Vieira is waiting to find a new club as well. Arsenal saw talks with Stuttgart break down after asking too much for the midfielder.

They are keen to get back over £20million for someone they spent £40million on. That position could loosen as the deadline approaches.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is in the same camp after falling out of favour and down the pecking order. Arsenal are hoping to move these players on and Albert Sambi Lokonga may well join them.

He returned from his loan at Sevilla at the end of last season and has continued to struggle with injury and availability. It leaves five players to move on with Hincapie in the wings to come in the other way.
