The summer transfer window is closed for Arsenal - meaning they are unable to complete any more signings. However, there's still opportunity for outgoings to take place deep into September.
The Gunners were active right up until the deadline with Piero Hincapie's loan capture from Bayer Leverkusen confirmed but - just as importantly - Andrea Berta was working hard to finalise a number of late exits from the Emirates Stadium.
Albert Sambi Lokonga moved to Hamburg; meanwhile, Fabio Vieira, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Reiss Nelson all secured loan departures in the final hours of the day.
Yet Arsenal still have a number of players still in Mikel Arteta 's squad with uncertain futures, the most high-profile possibly being Gabriel Martinelli .
Earlier this summer, Noni Madueke was drafted in from Chelsea, as was Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Add to that Leandro Trossard's new contract, and the Gunners have three players who can challenge Martinelli for a left-wing place in their starting XI.
Martinelli started their Premier League opener against Manchester United, before being dropped against Leeds United the following weekend. Most recently he was reinstated to Arteta's line-up for the defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Dropping in and out of the team will not help the 24-year-old's bid for a place in the Brazil national team for next summer's FIFA World Cup.
Although it may seem the chance is now gone for a summer exit, that is not actually true. There are a number of countries with transfer deadlines beyond England's 7pm cut-off on Monday, September 1.
Scotland and Spain were operating with an 11pm deadline last night. Portugal's was midnight exactly. They might have passed now but still offered Martinelli possible exit routes - some more likely than others - if Arsenal and he were to ever change their minds about an exit.
Next, the Dutch Eredivisie's transfer deadline closes later today - Tuesday, September 2 - at 11pm.
Belgium and Switzerland's respective windows close on Monday, September 8, meanwhile Turkey and Greece's business must only come an end on Friday, September 12. Turkey in particular has attracted some lucrative deals over the years, the most recent being Victor Osimhen's move to Galatasaray - which began as a loan in 2024 and was made permanent this summer.
A highly unlikely destination for Martinelli is Serbia's Super Liga, who's deadline is on Wednesday, September 17 - but finally the Saudi Pro League could prove an option to the Gunners if they wanted to approach for the winger.
Their transfer window is open longer than any other, until Tuesday, September 23.
This gives teams there the opportunity to land a lucrative transfer and grant the player a move that so many stars playing in Europe have done in recent years.
