Benjamin Sesko: Man United new boy makes telling contribution for Slovenia

Manchester United’s new signing Benjamin Sesko has struggled to make much of an impact at Old Trafford so far.

There have been some positive signs as he was unlucky not to open his account for the club versus Grimsby Town on numerous occasions.

He has appeared from the bench in all three Premier League games this season and will hope he can finally start after the international break.

The giant striker played all 90 minutes of Slovenia’s 2-2 draw with Sweden in World Cup qualification.

He grabbed an assist in the final seconds of play to earn his side a crucial draw with the Scandinavians.

Sesko held off two defenders, showing great strength, before heading the ball into the path of Zan Vipotnik, who fired in the last-gasp equaliser.

He personally struggled to get many chances though for himself, failing to have any shots on or off target.

The United man completed 15 out of his 19 passes and his only crossing attempt found its target.

The 22-year-old also won his only aerial duel but was weak in his ground contests, only winning two out of six attempts.

He will next be in action when his Slovenia side face the tough task of an away trip to Switzerland on Monday.

The Dane sealed a loan move away to SSC Napoli but could only start his nation’s match against Scotland on the bench.

He entered the fray on the 74th minute and had one shot off target.

Hojlund could only complete two passes from seven touches of the ball, as he failed to get involved in the match.

The Dane won his only ground duel but lost three out of his four aerial battles.

Patrick Dorgu did not get off the bench during the entire game. Both players will hope for more action away to Greece on Monday evening.

Finally, Amad played 67 minutes in the Ivory Coast’s 1-0 victory over Burundi.

He was replaced by Nicolas Pepe and picked up a yellow card. The Ivorians will next be in action against Gabon on Tuesday.
