Birmingham Make Shock Move for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Birmingham City have made an ambitious move to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Blues want the England international to join their push for promotion into the Premier League .

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 32, is currently at Besiktas but would be open to a return to English football. There has been interest from the Premier League with Besiktas likely to let him go if they can find the right deal.

Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain has been back in full training with Besiktas, is in good shape and ready for the new season.

It would be a new challenge to find another club at this stage of his career and Birmingham hope they can convince him because of the ownership and direction.

Birmingham can boast a big pull with Tom Wagner as chairman and NFL legend Tom Brady is a part owner of the St Andrews club.

They have made a solid start to the Championship season and have got dreams of going straight up into the top flight after being promoted from League One.

They have spending power and pulling power which they hope can convince Oxlade-Chamberlain who has 35 England caps and had an illustrious Premier League career with both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Injuries have held him back in his career but he joined Besiktas two years ago and remains in Turkey despite false reports that he had left.

He even posted pictures of himself back in training to prove he was still there. There is also certain to be interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain from Premier League clubs in this window as he is regarded as being a popular figure in the dressing room with leadership qualities.

His partner, Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, recently revealed she would be splitting her time between England and Turkey. They have been together for eight years and have a son.
