Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has taken Matheus Cunha under his wings and has been helping him handle the pressures of being a Red Devils player, according to the Sun .

The Brazilian joined Man United from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer and just opened his account for the Old Trafford club during the 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last Saturday.

It took nine games for Cunha to have his first goal contribution as a Red Devils player, and Fernandes would be proud of him.

Both have been spending hours doing extra sessions, working on free-kicks and set-pieces.

Under Bruno’s guidance, Cunha has improved his emotional control and confidence, especially during recent frustrations with injury.

He picked up a knock in August and has only recently returned to full fitness, impressing in the last three Premier League victories for the Red Devils.

Man United staff reportedly had been warned that Cunha could be prickly to deal with and that he had a tendency to turn on the charm in public.

However, dealings with him by those at the club have been almost purely positive.

They also believe his ball retention and ability to advance have relieved pressure on Fernandes, and it is safe to say their connection is starting to pay off following hours of training together.

Man United return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest, and they will fancy their chances of securing a fourth straight victory.

Cunha will be looking forward to getting involved in the goals again, and Fernandes will be more than ready to keep helping him on and off the pitch.

The Red Devils signed him because he proved himself in the final third at Wolves, and they will hope he can finally start firing on all cylinders like fellow summer signing Bryan Mbeumo after his goal last weekend.
