United’s new £200million forward line of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko were shown up away from home.

And Ruben Amorim was left to rue another bad performance as he slated his players’ efforts afterwards.

The Portuguese gaffer has now won just 17 of his 45 matches since taking charge 300 days ago.

Amorim is yet to taste victory at all this season, losing his opening game to Arsenal before drawing at Fulham on Sunday.

But following a decent showing against the Gunners, he was backed by none other than United legend and Sky Sports pundit Neville.

The former Valencia boss was impressed with the performance against Arsenal.

And Neville made an outlandish boast claiming that his former side will “surprise a few” this season.”

He declared: “When I watched United yesterday I thought the performance was very good.

“I think they’ll get a goalkeeper, I’m banking on it.

“When they bring a goalkeeper in and you’ve got those players up front with that backline, I think with the free weeks they’ve got and no Europa League, I think United will surprise a few.”

Neville’s previous words were quickly pounced upon by Carragher, who cheekily retweeted a clip of the quotes on social media.

This saw fans pile on Neville for his prediction.

One said: “We are not surprised at all.”

Another declared: “Surprised? Not in a good way.”

One noted: “Surprised Grimsby.”

Another added: “Can never take him seriously talking about United.”
