Moises Caicedo has opened up on his relationship with Nicolas Jackson by claiming the striker was his best friend at Chelsea . The Senegal international forward departed Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day following a jaw-dropped saga in light of Liam Delap's hamstring injury against Fulham.
While Jackson did eventually get his move to Bavaria - an initial loan with an obligation to buy - Caicedo has been left to rue the departure of his team-mate.
He revealed during a chat with Ecuadorian outlet Piso 17: “My best friend at Chelsea was Jackson but he left the team. I used to go everywhere with him. He went to my house, I went to his. We played on the PlayStation and I always beat him!"
Jackson's exit does not seem to be affecting Caicedo on the field as the box-to-box, all-action midfielder is arguably enjoying the best season of his career to date.
He has already scored more Premier League goals (three) this term than any previous campaign after striking the opener in Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Liverpool.
Speaking after the match, Gary Neville claimed the 23-year-old is now the best midfielder in the top-flight.
The ex-Manchester United and England international told Sky Sports: “He’s the best midfield player in the league at this moment in time and I think I’m comfortable saying that.
"[Ryan] Gravenberch last season and maybe Declan Rice and Rodri obviously, for the last few years. But now, I think at this time, we can say that Caicedo is the best midfield player in the league, and he’s performing like that.”

Meanwhile, Jackson is now off the mark for Bayern after scoring his first goal for the club in the 5-1 Champions League win at Pafos.
The attacker is yet to find the target in the Bundesliga, though he has only started one league match under Vincent Kompany thus far.
Speaking after the demolition of Pafos, Jackson claimed he is still getting up to speed after training alone towards the end of his time with Chelsea, explaining: "It wasn't easy but we played a very good game and worked hard. I'm very happy to score my first goal for the club.
"I'm still getting back to full fitness because I hadn't played and trained alone for two months. I'm working hard every day. I'm very happy here, everyone welcomed me very well. I feel at home. We'll see what the future brings."
