Donnarumma moved as PSG teammates force his farewell to fans

Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma was visibly moved as his Paris Saint-Germain teammates allowed him to say goodbye to the fans, having been pushed out by the club.

The goalkeeper was instrumental in their Champions League triumph last season, which was the icing on the cake of the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and French Super Cup trophies.

He was told to find himself a new club this summer, as PSG were not prepared to maintain his current wages and the current contract is set to expire in June 2026.

Donnarumma was even left out of the squad for the European Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur and tonight’s Ligue 1 home match against Angers.

However, during the celebration after the 1-0 victory looking back over their many trophies, Donnarumma’s teammates formed a circle and pushed him forward to accept the cheers of the fans.

Notably, coach Luis Enrique and the PSG directors were on the other side of the pitch during this moment, confirming it was a gesture made only by the players.

Captain Marquinhos then hugged a visibly moved Donnarumma and continued leading the cheers and chants for the Italian, making sure he toured the whole stadium to salute everyone.

He is expected to join Manchester City.
