The estranged wife of Newcastle United and England defender Kieran Trippier was forced to call the police after burglars attempted to break into her £2million mansion.

It is believed intruders attempted to force entry with a vehicle by smashing it into her home’s electronic security gates before then trying to pry them open with tools, according to The Sun . Charlotte Trippier, who separated from Kieran last year, has three children with the 35-year-old.

Regarding the incident, Cheshire Police confirmed that “suspicious activity” was being investigated at Charlotte’s mansion in a high-end area of the county.

The report states officers were looking at CCTV footage from neighbours to see if anyone lurking in the area was picked up.

A spokesperson said: “We have received a report of suspicious activity at an address and are making enquiries to establish the circumstances.”

Charlotte was said to have been left terrified by the attempted raid and has strengthened her security.

Earlier this year, Charlotte offered an update on her wellbeing to social media after moving out of their shared home in the North East.

In the video message, she said: “Obviously I’m not ready to talk about my situation. In time I will, when I’m comfortable and the time is right.

“Also, I have three young children so I don’t want to put things out there for them to see.”

“It’s not that bad," she added when offering support for followers going through a similar situation. “The sparkle does come back... you’ll get there.”

The Newcastle United star, meanwhile, is in the midst of a third full season at St James' Park after joining from Atletico Madrid in January 2022. He has been a key starter under Eddie Howe in recent years, though he has been forced to play reduced role more recently.

Injuries to starting full-back duo Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento has seen his minutes increase again, however. He has made seven starts this season, with two of those coming in the Champions League , although he wasn't called up for Thomas Tuchel's England squad this month.

Trippier has entered the final 12 months of the three-and-a-half year contract that he signed upon joining with it currently unclear what his next move will be.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
