Gallagher lined up for shock Prem return as he slips down Atletico pecking order

CRYSTAL PALACE are one of a number of Premier League clubs to have asked about Conor Gallagher’s availability at Atletico Madrid.

The Eagles are looking to bolster their midfield after selling Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for £67.5million at the weekend.

Gallagher , 25, excelled on loan at Selhurst Park from Chelsea during the 2021-22 season.

Following two seasons as a regular with the Blues, the midfielder signed for Atletico Madrid in a £36million deal 12 months ago.

The England ace is said to be open to a move to Selhurst, with a loan switch possible.

Gallagher is keen to play regular football ahead of next summer's World Cup.

Newcastle are believed to be another Premier League side to have enquired a few weeks ago but they have since signed Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa for £43m.

Gallagher made 50 appearances in all competitions for Atletico last season, scoring four goals and laying on six assists.

But he has been limited to just 67 minutes across the LaLiga side's opening two games of this term.

Gallagher played brilliantly during his first spell at Selhurst.

The Cobham academy graduate scored eight Premier League goals that season, earning his first England call-up in the process.

Palace are set to be busy before the end of the transfer window.

Boss Oliver Glasner bemoaned his lack of options last week, admitting: "I'm worried about Crystal Palace if we lose players and don't get the right ones in."

The Eagles lost Eze last week, while captain Marc Guehi is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with Liverpool .

SunSport revealed over the weekend that Glasner wants to swoop for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis.

Chairman Steve Parish, meanwhile, fancies a move for Villarreal 's Spanish international Yeremy Pino.

The Eagles could swoop for both, should they be available in the £20m range.
