Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Nottingham Forest's squad, branding them as "idiots" for their behaviour following the dismissals of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou's tenure at Forest was short-lived, lasting just 39 days without a single victory in his eight games at the helm, having taken over from Nuno, who was shown the door after a heated public disagreement with owner Evangelos Marinakis. Sean Dyche has been brought in as the third gaffer to take the reins at Forest, kicking off his stint with a Europa League face-off against Porto on Thursday night.

Keane, who donned the Forest jersey 148 times before going on to clinch the Premier League title seven times with Manchester United , questioned the commitment of the Forest players on the Stick to Football podcast. He asked: "You look at the Forest players and the chances they had. What chance has he [Postecoglou] got?".

He continued: "Did they really want to score? Did they want to keep him in the job? I'm talking about good players not even hitting the target."

During Postecoglou's reign, Forest managed to net only seven goals while letting in 17. A 3-0 drubbing at home by Chelsea , during which a telling shot of Marinakis' empty seat at the City Ground was aired, marked the end for the Australian head coach as he was given his marching orders shortly after the final whistle.

Keane didn't hold back in his criticism, adding: "Then the manager loses his job, you look at these Forest players, and they're like, 'oh well, another manager has gone, a new one comes in', you know. Idiots, honestly."

Ian Wright, Paul Scholes, Jill Scott and Gary Neville joined Roy Keane on the podcast, with Neville criticising the Forest owner's treatment of Postecoglou as lacking class.

"I've sacked four managers face-to-face in my time at Salford,' Neville revealed. "Honestly, as a football club owner, it's one of the worst things you can do.

"You always think about the right time - obviously for the club, ultimately you're doing it because the club isn't happy and as owners you're not happy - but you're always thinking about how you deliver that news and where you deliver that news from the point of view of the manager.

"And also giving him integrity. When you get sacked as a manager, you feel paranoid, you feel like the whole world is looking at you, you feel awful, you feel like you've let everyone down.

"So you try and do it in as classy a way as possible, you try and do it a bit of time away from the game, you try and make sure he has the ability to speak to his staff and his players and has the time to build a statement.

"To do it 15, 20 minutes after a game, Jill [Scott] put it beautifully, to leave the stadium, and then do it 20 minutes after the match.."

Neville was barred from attending last season's City Ground finale. The Reds were upset by the former Manchester United defender's public criticism of owner Marinakis back in May. Consequently, he was unable to attend the club's final game of last term - at home to Chelsea - in a broadcasting capacity.

Postecoglou was reportedly snapped leaving the ground just 90 minutes or so after the final whistle, beaming as he posed for a photo with a young fan through his car window. Co-host and former United legend Keane jumped in again to slam Marinakis' approach to the situation.

"You're the mad one, not the owner! Why do you think this Forest owner is going to do it differently to what he's always done?" he demanded once more. "He's done it with Martin O'Neill, he's done it with other managers. Leopards and spots. Why did you think he was going to do it properly? Power, control, that's how they operate.

"So when the manager... out you go. You have to sack managers, but try and do it with a bit of class. And then players come out afterwards, 'Oh well, that's football.'".
