The deal for Hojlund , 22, was held up as he thrashed out his personal terms.

After agreeing, he will now join Napoli on an initial loan and looks set to stay at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium beyond that.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the clubs have also agreed on a mandatory purchase clause for the Dane.

On top do the £5million loan fee, Napoli will then spend a further £38m on the struggling forward.

Hojlund scored ten times last season in 52 appearances in all competitions.

Only four of his goals came in the Premier League despite featuring 32 times.

He was a big-money arrival at Old Trafford when he joined from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.

Hojlund cost United £72m, which means his exit will see him leave for £29m less than what he was bought for.

He fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim and is yet to make an appearance this season.

He has not even been named in any of the matchday squads, including the Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town

Amorim will be putting his faith in strikers Joshua Zirkzee and summer signing Benjamin Sesko this season.

However, both were named on the bench for the Premier League fixture against Burnley .

Napoli may not be done at just signing Hojlund from United.

The Italians are also keen on adding Kobbie Mainoo to Antonio Conte 's squad before the end of the transfer window.

The midfielder had told United's bigwigs that he is keen on the move as he wants to boost his gametime in a World Cup year.
