I'm a Man Utd icon, people ask 'what about your keeper?' - Onana is a shambles

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Parker says Andre Onana "isn't even a goalkeeper."

And the former England defender is sick of people asking him about the Red Devils ' "shambles" between the sticks.

Onana, 29, endured his latest horror show in United's humiliating Carabao Cup loss to Grimsby on Wednesday night.

And frustrated Parker fumed: "It's becoming a shambles!

"When I’m out and about, the first thing people talk to me about is always ‘what about your keeper?’

"The problem is, he's not a goalkeeper. He is not a goalkeeper, simple as that!

"It's absolutely plain as anything that Manchester United need a goalkeeper.

"They definitely need a goalkeeper because I'll say this again - he wasn't always a goalkeeper, no-one can tell me differently

"He just hasn't got the hands, he hasn't got the stance, he hasn't got the positional sense of the goalkeeper.

"I would love to see a photo of him, 10 years old, with a pair of gloves on. But when I say a pair of gloves, I don't mean marigolds."

Onana conceded two poor goals against Grimsby and then 12 out of 13 penalties in the shootout loss.

It was his first start of the season, after No2 Altay Bayindir had his own horror show in the opening day Premier League loss to Arsenal .

But Parker is far from convinced.

Speaking with 32Red Online Casino , he added: "I keep hearing they're supposed to be signing somebody, this Belgium goalkeeper [Senne Lammens], the Belgium number two.

"They signed a Turkish number two before - who actually found this goalkeeper?!

"Is it what the manager wants? Is it what's the manager believes in? Can he deal with corners?

"Do you have to worry about giving away corners if he saves the ball? Does he palm it down to people's feet?

"I don't really care if he is the best passer in the world. I don't care if he can pass, I just want to know that he's a good shot stopper."

United have also been linked with a shock return for Premier League legend, David De Gea, following his departure from the club in 2023, after his contract expired.

But Parker does not think a return for the Spaniard would be possible after a sour ending to his 12-year spell at the club where he was named player-of-the-year on four separate occasions.

Parker said: "I don't think he would. I'd be surprised if he did, because he knows he’d be under serious pressure to try and produce what he did.

"I think he should enjoy the moment now of what he should have got prior to him leaving, people digging him out and people questioning him.

"Live with what how you are thought of now, rather than come back."
