Federico Chiesa admits it was dead silence in the Liverpool dressing room after they were beaten at Brentford - extending their losing run in the Premier League to four games.

The Reds suffered defeat in west London with the hosts good value for their 3-2 win . They took a 2-0 lead in the first-half, before Liverpool cut the deficit. Brentford re-established their two-goal lead before Mo Salah scored a late goal, but it couldn't stop his side's poor run of form.

Chiesa has claimed that the silence was because all of the players knew the situation had worsened, but no one needed to say it. Instead individuals considered their individual roles as the Reds slipped further down the table.

They lost for the first time at Crystal Palace in September and were beaten a week later at Chelsea . Since they returned from the international break they were stunned at home by Manchester United and then lost in the capital.

Their Italian forward said on the aftermath: "No-one was speaking, because afterwards everyone knows. Sometimes you don't have to speak about the situation.

"You know what's going on. So no-one spoke because we have to think about what we can do better. Usually when we are in this situation, the first thing that comes to your mind is to give more, train harder. It was good that after the game we didn't talk because it's a sign that everyone wants to change. Everyone wants to change the situation."

The poor run of results has seen Liverpool slip from top spot down to seventh. It was on their bus journey back to Merseyside that the debrief really began with players discussing how they turn the corner, but Chiesa insists there was no blame game taking place.

He added: "Afterwards we went to the bus and then we started to talk about the situation and everyone wants to turn things around. That's the main goal and the first thing is that we don't have to blame anything or anyone.

"It's many reasons and there's not just one thing. We don't and I personally don't care if it's this or that that is causing us not to win. For me the most important thing is to work harder and then try to get the win.

"At the beginning of the season we were winning and no-one was questioning this and that and whatever, so just we have to win because it's Liverpool."
