Italy vs Israel – Predicted lineup and team news

Italy and Israel are set to clash in a pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match this evening at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine.

Both teams are eager to secure important points in Group I. Currently, Italy hold second place with 12 points, while Israel follow closely in third with 9 points. However, Italy have the advantage of a game in hand over their rivals. At the top of the group, Norway remain the leaders with 18 points from their six fixtures.

Italy will have to adjust their lineup for tonight’s encounter. First, a suspension will sideline Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni after he received a yellow card in their recent win. As a result, Roma’s Gianluca Mancini is expected to step in alongside Riccardo Calafiori in central defence.

In addition, the team will miss striker Moise Kean due to an ankle injury. The Fiorentina forward scored the opening goal against Estonia before being substituted, and had been in impressive form, with six goals in his last four appearances.

The squad have also been hit by other injuries. Wingers Matteo Politano and Mattia Zaccagni have both been withdrawn from Gennaro Gattuso’s roster, with Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli earning a call-up in their place. Furthermore, Federico Chiesa remains a notable absentee. According to Gattuso, the Liverpool forward is not yet at full fitness and has chosen to hold off on his return.

On a more positive note, there are some welcome returns to the squad. Milan’s Matteo Gabbia and Roma’s Bryan Cristante are back in the fold after more than a year out of the national setup. Finally, to add fresh options, Gattuso has given maiden senior call-ups to Bologna’s Nicolò Cambiaghi and Fiorentina’s Hans Nicolussi Caviglia.

Italy predicted XI : Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Calafiori, Dimarco; Cambiaso, Barella, Tonali, Spinazzola; Raspadori, Retegui

The match will kick off at 7:45 pm BST on Tuesday, 14th October.

Fans in the UK will be able to view the match live via Amazon Prime Video as a pay-per-view event.
