The Stamford Bridge faithful have waited 18 months to finally see their dazzling gem, after he was too young to make the move to Chelsea from Palmeiras .

But it was worth the wait as Estevao lit up the London Stadium and announced his arrival in the Premier League with a spectacular performance.

The 18-year-old was handed a shock first Premier League start after Cole Palmer was injured in the warm-up.

And the young winger dubbed ‘Messinho’ in his homeland endured a nightmare opening.

He tried a fancy flick in his own half, lost the ball, and the mistake led directly to the Hammers taking a shock lead thanks to Lucas Paqueta’s wonder strike.

But in a breathtaking display of character and skill, the youngster recovered to orchestrate a ruthless Chelsea fightback to win 5-1.

After his early gaffe saw West Ham surge ahead, some young players might have crumbled under the ferocious atmosphere of a Friday night derby.

But not Estevao. The winger refused to hide, demanding the ball and terrorising the home defence with his dazzling footwork and fearless running.

Sky Sports' Jamie Redknapp said the fact he wanted the ball so much despite the early mistake was as impressive as his footwork.

Redknapp said: "He’s a lovely footballer, the kid.

"You’ve given away a goal, sometimes a young player can go under… but he never did.

“He kept wanting it, he showed great ability, lovely dribbling skills, he’s got that effortless grace and poise."

Manager Enzo Maresca also praised the teenager’s strength of character to bounce back from the costly gaffe.

Maresca said: "We conceded a goal because of him, he lost the ball in the build-up, so he needs to make a mistake to learn.

"But his reaction to that mistake showed how good he is, and the reason why he is here with us."

Estevao’s crowning moment came just before the break.

With the Blues already having turned the game around to lead 2-1, he collected the ball on the right flank, shimmied past two defenders with ease, and whipped in an inch-perfect cross for Enzo Fernandez to tap home Chelsea’s third.

The assist was not just a pivotal moment in the match; it was a history-making one.

At 18 years and 120 days old, Estevao became the youngest player ever to provide an assist for Chelsea in the Premier League.

CHELSEA thumped five past West Ham despite losing Cole Palmer to injury before the game even started.

Lucas Paqueta put the Hammers into an early lead but goals from Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah gave the Blues a convincing 5-1 win.
