Galatasaray winger Leroy Sane reportedly became embroiled in a fight with a fan after feeling "humiliated" during this year's Oktoberfest celebrations. The 29-year-old had returned to Munich this past weekend to participate in the festivities before matters took a turn for the worse.

It's understood Sane was taunted by fans while making his way through the Weinzelt tent at approximately 11pm local time on Sunday evening. Sane allegedly hit back when a table of Bayern supporters began chanting "Scheiß Gala," which translates to "Sh***y Galatasaray," the club he joined after departing Munich in the summer.

"I was provoked and personally humiliated for a long time in the festival tent," he told Bild. "Galatasaray was also insulted. In the tense atmosphere, I was pushed, and then a brief fight broke out. Of course, I should have been calmer at the time and ignored the situation. I learned from it."

Goal reported eyewitness accounts that claimed some fan taunts "crossed into racist territory." It also said Sane did his utmost to ignore the chants and maintain his composure before turning to confront those in question.

Reports indicated Sane was involved in a brief physical altercation with one of the alleged perpetrators. However, it wasn't long before security intervened to defuse the situation.

Sane spent four years at Manchester City before departing Pep Guardiola's squad in July 2020. He returned to Germany after Bayern agreed a deal for his services worth up to £55million, then left Die Roten as a free agent five years later.

His Turkish adventure has yet to truly ignite, although the attacker has shown promise in flashes with one strike and three assists across his opening nine outings. Nevertheless, the club currently sits atop the Super Lig table and remains odds-on to retain their title.

Sane bid farewell to Munich despite featuring 48 times under Vincent Kompany last season, coming off the substitutes' bench in 22 of those matches. Reports suggest Sane spent part of his Oktoberfest experience alongside his former boss.

Bayern stars regularly turn up at Oktoberfest and traditionally don lederhosen for the celebrations. Bayern talisman and England striker Harry Kane graced the festival alongside his wife, Kate.

The pair faced no difficulties of their own as Harry shared on Instagram, calling it the "perfect finish to the week." Sane captured the Premier League twice during his City stint, as well as securing two FA Cups and three Carabao Cups.

He netted 39 goals and provided 44 assists across 135 appearances for the English powerhouse. Guardiola spoke frankly about Sane's circumstances during the final stages of his four-year Manchester spell and acknowledged his ambition to embrace a fresh challenge.
