Liverpool broke record twice but Arsenal splashed out MORE as net spend revealed

LIVERPOOL may have splashed the cash like never before, but they still spent less money than title rivals Arsenal.
The champions spent a whopping £426MILLION this summer, twice breaking the British transfer record as they strengthened an already incredible squad.

The deadline day arrival of Alexander Isak from Newcastle set a record for the Premier League, as Liverpool forked out an eye watering £130MILLION to finally get their man after a drawn out saga .
That deal broke a record already set by the Anfield outfit earlier in the window, when they agreed a deal worth £116m (initial £100m with add-ons) with Bayer Leverkusen for new midfielder Florian Wirtz .
Add to that the arrivals of Hugo Ekitike (£69m), Milos Kerkez (£40m), Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m), Giovanni Leoni (£26m), Giorgi Mamardashvili (£30m) and Armin Pecsi (£1.5m) and you would expect Liverpool to be the league's biggest spenders.
But as a result to their incredible selling ability, it's actually Arsenal that have spent the most cash this summer when you weigh up the league's net spends.
Liverpool's outgoings totalled an impressive £205m - thanks to the sales of the likes of Luis Diaz , Darwin Nunez and Jarell Quansah - meaning they have spent only £221m when it comes to net spend.
Meanwhile Arsenal, who brought in £241.8m worth of signings, only managed to shift on £16.7m in outgoings.
That means they lead the league in net spend, having seen a balance of £225.1m added to their accounting books.
Mikel Arteta 's side have been miserable sellers in the market in recent years, failing to shift on their unwanted players for sizeable sums.

Players like Kieran Tierney , Jorginho and Takehiro Tomiyasu all left for free or were released this summer, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Reiss Nelson could only secure loan moves.
The Gunners would have had more incoming cash had it not been for their £23.5m deal for Jakub Kiwior being an initial loan with an obligation to buy - meaning those funds will be registered on next season's accounts.
Should Arsenal want some tips on how to sell, they only need to take a look down the road at London neighbours Chelsea .
The Blues have incredibly managed to end up with a net spend PROFIT of £17.7m despite spending over £260m on new signings this summer.
That's because Todd Boehly and his Clearlake Capital pals have run a masterclass in player trading, shifting on a whopping £280.7m in deadwood during the window.
Those sales included the likes of Christopher Nkuku to AC Milan (£36m), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Everton (£26m) and Noni Madueke to Arsenal (£48m)
Nobody has earned more cash than Bournemouth, though.
The Cherries are £92.8m up after the sales of Dean Huijsen , Milos Kerkez, Dango Ouattara and Illia Zabarnyi.
Meanwhile Man Utd are in a similar boat to Arsenal, splashing £215m on their shiny new arrivals and making just £61.7m of that back in player sales.
The Red Devils, like the Gunners, were forced to use the loan market to try and move players on instead of securing permanent exits for high-wage players.
Jadon Sancho 's deadline day loan to Aston Villa and Marcus Rashford 's potentially temporary switch to Barcelona are the perfect examples of the struggle the United board faced during the window.
Newcastle managed a net spend of just over £84m for their spending spree, in no small part thanks to the £130m they banked for the sale of Isak to Liverpool.
While Tottenham's late move to sign Xavi Simons made them the fourth highest net spenders of the season, forking out £110.5m in cash this summer.
In total, Premier League clubs came close to breaking £3BILLION in gross spend during the window.
