Liverpool have reportedly identified two players to replace Mohamed Salah in the future – one of whom spent seven years at Chelsea .

The Reds began the season in style, winning their first seven matches across all competitions after a busy summer where they spent £420million on seven new signings.

However, their performances have been somewhat lacking and they have now lost their last three games, including injury-time defeats to Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League .

Several players have come under criticism, including talisman Salah who, by his lofty standards, has endured a slow start to the campaign, scoring just once from open play in the league.

The winger, one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, is under contract until 2027, by which stage he’ll be 35 and the club are now looking to find a player capable of succeeding the Egyptian King.

And, according to the Daily Mail , there are two names on their shortlist: Antoine Semenyo and Michael Olise.

Semenyo has been one of the standout players in the Premier League so far this season, with only Erling Haaland bettering the Bournemouth forward for goals and goal contributions.

Arne Slot was interested in signing the 25-year-old over the summer, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Tottenham , and is valued at £75million by the Cherries.

As for Olise, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most talented attackers in the world since moving to Bayern Munich from Palace last year.

The France international already boasts 11 goals and assists in just 10 appearances this season, part a deadly front-three alongside England captain Harry Kane and former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

Olise spent time in Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City’s academies, including seven years at Cobham, and came close to re-joining the Blues in 2023 .

If Liverpool were interested in signing him it would surely take an astronomical fee to do so given that the German champions spent upwards of £46m to sign him and have no intention of letting him leave.

Olise is under contract until 2029 and sporting director Christoph Freund recently said: ‘We can imagine him playing for Bayern for the next seven, eight, or nine years.’

For now, Slot will be hoping that Salah and the rest of his team get back to winning ways when Liverpool host arch-rivals Manchester United on October 19.
