Lyon star Fofana tipped for £51.5million Prem transfer to 'where he belongs'

MALICK FOFANA would fit right in at Liverpool or Manchester City, according to his agent.

A whole host of Premier League clubs were linked with Lyon's 20-year-old winger during the summer window.

And although a move failed to materialise, transfer market big shot Frederico Pena - a senior figure at the Roc Nation agency - reckons his client won't have to wait much longer.

He told Belgian newspaper De Morgen : "This is the season in which Fofana wants to show himself to the world, especially at the World Cup.

"If he succeeds, he can move from Lyon to a top 10 club. At Roc Nation, we strongly believe in him.

" Liverpool , Bayern [Munich] , Man City - those are the clubs where he belongs."

Fofana scored 11 goals in 41 games for Lyon last season.

And he already boasts bags of experience, having started playing first-team football for Belgian side Gent at the age of 17.

Liverpool were among the teams credited with interest in Fofana over the summer.

Lyon pinned their prized asset with a £51.5million price tag in the hope of cashing in big.

But, in the end, Arne Slot's attacking firepower arrived in the form of Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.

Part of Roc Nation's master plan for Fofana involves a good showing at next year's World Cup.

The youngster has already earned three caps for Belgium's senior team, scoring once.

But Rudi Garcia's men have work to do before their spot at the tournament is signed and sealed.

Belgium currently sit second in qualifying Group J, one point behind surprise leaders North Macedonia and level on points with third-place Wales.
