Man United announce nominees for October Player of the Month award

Manchester United have confirmed the four players who are vying to win the club’s Player of the Month award for October.

Following a patchy start to the 2025/26 season, United enjoyed a dream October, which saw Ruben Amorim and his players record three Premier League victories out of a possible three.

United kickstarted the month with a 2-0 win over Sunderland. They followed that up with a huge 2-1 triumph against Liverpool at Anfield. It was the first time United had beaten Anfield in Merseyside since 2016.

More recently, the Red Devils cruised to a convincing 4-2 win against Brighton.

As it stands, United are sixth in the Premier League , six points adrift of table leaders Arsenal. October proved to be a drastic turnaround for the team and the hope is that it will continue for as long as possible.

A number of stars did well throughout the month, but only four have been shortlisted for the October Player of the Month prize. These are Senne Lammens , Matthijs de Ligt , Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo .

Lammens enjoyed a superb debut against Sunderland, keeping a clean sheet and contributing massively as United clinched all three points at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old looked unfazed and followed that up with another equally impactful display between the sticks during the meeting with Liverpool. Last weekend, he produced a string of excellent saves, especially in the final minutes of the game, which helped United get over the line against Brighton.

The Belgian has also impressed with his fantastic distribution and ability to claim the ball.

De Ligt has been instrumental in United’s newfound defensive solidity, arguably playing the best football of his United career. He was crucial in shutting out Sunderland and did an excellent job containing Liverpool’s dangerous attack.

He stood out again when his side hosted the Seagulls. The Netherlands international has caught the eye with his aggressive and no-nonsense defending, whether playing on the right or in the middle of Ruben Amorim’s favoured three-man defence.

The second summer arrival on this list, Cunha finally opened his account for United with the opener against Brighton. He produced a superb strike from outside the box that set the tone for the win.

He was crucial against Liverpool, making multiple surging runs in the dying embers of the game to push United high up the pitch.

The last nominee, Mbeumo has not looked the least bit out of place at United.

After breaking the deadlock versus Liverpool, the Cameroonian carried his fine form into the next match, netting a brilliant double against Brighton.

Mbeumo is United’s top scorer this season.

Voting for the Player of the Month closes at 22:00 GMT on Friday. The winner will be confirmed on Saturday.
