United Store Blocks Printing of Legendary Names .. Legal Twist Revealed
In move that stunned Manchester United supporters, the club’s official store's reportedly banned the printing of iconic names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Eric Cantona on the new 2025 /26 jerseys.
According to The Sun, the decision stems from image & name rights. Once a player’s contract ends, clubs no longer hold commercial rights to their name unless specific license's granted.
In official statement , United explained:
"Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo own the rights to their names & likenesses. We cannot print them without their permission"
