Oliver Glasner’s future at Crystal Palace is uncertain after the Austrian declined the chance to sign a new contract with the club. Glasner is hot property right now, having masterminded Palace’s FA Cup final win and made an unbeaten start to the season, with Manchester United among the interested onlookers .

The 51-year-old has been in charge of Palace since February 2024, when he replaced Roy Hodgson , and has completely changed the club’s trajectory. He has lost just 15 of his 71 matches in charge of the Eagles, bringing a first major trophy in their history by beating Manchester City at Wembley in May.

Palace currently sit third in the Premier League table having drawn three and won three of their games and they begin the first ever European campaign on Thursday, facing Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League. These are heady days for the south London club, but they are also uncertain ones.

The fact that captain Marc Guehi’s contract expires on June 30 has been well documented after the defender saw a £35million move to Liverpool collapse on deadline day. But Glasner is in the same boat, with his contract also only having nine months left on it.

BBC Sport reports that Glasner was offered a contract extension over the summer, yet he declined to sign it, preferring to wait until the end of the transfer window. Glasner was openly critical of Palace’s approach in the transfer market and threatened to resign if the club sold Guehi without finding a replacement.

Palace’s low-key window could ultimately lead to Glasner’s departure because it didn’t match his personal ambitions. The club brought in just five players, two of whom came on free transfers, and only Yeremy Pino has made an impact so far this season.

The chances of Palace keeping Glasner beyond the end of the season are reportedly deemed ‘remote’ following internal discussions. The club will try to persuade him otherwise, but it seems that he could jump ship to a different club who are able to match the success he had at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the Europa League in 2022.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Would Oliver Glasner be a good choice for Manchester United? Comment below .

Manchester United are keeping an eye on Glasner, who would be a good fit were they to replace Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese boss has won just 18 of his 49 games in charge and is under huge pressure following the 3-1 defeat by Brentford last weekend which left United 14th in the Premier League with two wins from their opening six games.

While Glasner is being considered as a potential replacement, United stress that they remain committed to Amorim ahead of a crunch match against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. The fact that the Austrian is coming to the end of his deal and plays a similar three-man defence makes him an obvious target for Ineos should they sack Amorim.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
