Ruben Amorim's tenure at Manchester United is on shaky ground, with his position 'not absolutely safe' following a dismal start to the season. The heat is back on Amorim after United suffered a 3-1 loss to Brentford on Saturday .
The Red Devils were outplayed as Igor Thiago bagged two goals in the first half and substitute Mathias Jensen scored in extra time, securing victory for the home team at the Gtech Community Stadium. This defeat leaves the Reds languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table, having gathered a mere seven points from their first six matches.
They've only tasted victory twice this season, both times on home turf against Burnley and Chelsea .
Amorim's overall track record since taking over from Erik ten Hag as United's permanent head coach in November 2024 is concerning, with just 18 wins and 12 draws from his 48 games in charge.
Rumours are swirling that Amorim's job could be in jeopardy if there's no upturn in results and performances.
Although the Manchester Evening News report that – for now – he still enjoys the full support of the United board, who've decided to stick by the head coach for the time being.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has since weighed in on Amorim's future, stating that the next few matches will be crucial for the 40-year-old Portuguese.
"Man United are still respecting their manager," Romano said on his YouTube channel.

"Ruben Amorim is still waiting to see an improvement that's really needed, starting from the next game, probably. So, that can be too long for sure. So, the situation of Ruben Amorim remains one to watch for sure.
"I'm not here saying that Amorim is absolutely safe. Amorim's job is not absolutely safe in this moment because they need to perform in a different way because Man United want to see results.
"But it doesn't mean that Manchester United have met with Southgate or already started the process to appoint Gareth Southgate as new boss. So let's wait. Let's see what happens. But for sure, the next games will be important for Ruben Amorim."
With United absent from European competition this campaign, the Red Devils face Sunderland in their upcoming fixture on Saturday.
They then enjoy a fortnight's respite owing to the international break, before making the journey to face arch rivals Liverpool – but whether Amorim will still be in charge for the showdown at Anfield remains to be seen.
