Manchester United push for Lammens before deadline
Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens , according to The Telegraph .
The club want to secure a deal before the summer transfer window closes on Monday night.
The team’s struggles between the posts have been a major concern this season, with those issues contributing to United winning only once since the start of the campaign.
These problems have left Ruben Amorim determined to strengthen his squad in this area, while Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is also being monitored as another option.
United have made the 23-year-old Belgian their main target, as Amorim wants stronger competition for André Onana and Altay Bayindir, who have both struggled.
Lammens is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising keepers and has attracted attention from several clubs.
Talks held earlier in the week between United and the player did not reach an agreement over personal terms.
During the same period, Galatasaray entered the race by presenting their own proposal.
United have now come back with an improved offer in an effort to secure the deal.
Sources suggest that if terms are settled, Lammens would be ready to take his medical immediately.
His club, Royal Antwerp , are prepared to allow his departure, provided they receive an offer worth more than £20 million.
Known for his traditional goalkeeping style, Lammens is admired for his quick reflexes and strong anticipation of shots.
He is also noted for his ability in one-on-one scenarios, where he uses his body effectively to block efforts.
His skill set includes sound diving technique, reliable parrying, and firm handling, making him a steady presence at the back.
Alongside this, he provides leadership inside the penalty area and is comfortable with distribution, helping to launch counter-attacks.
Although he is still improving in areas linked to mental focus and dealing with high-pressure moments, his physical qualities and core strengths suggest he has the tools to adapt quickly to English football.
United see him as a player capable of lifting standards in a position that has caused repeated problems during Amorim’s early tenure.
