Harry Maguire , who was the hero as he notched a late winner against Liverpool a week ago, misses out altogether with a knock while Mason Mount - who had also been carrying a knock this week, according to Ruben Amorim - must settle for a place on the bench as Benjamin Sesko is recalled up front.

This weekend’s game comes too soon for Lisandro Martinez , though the Argentine is understood to be progressing well in training as he seeks to return from a long-term knee injury.

Maguire’s absence means Leny Yoro slots into United’s back three against Brighton alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw, while Sesko’s return as the focal point of United’s attack means Matheus Cunha is back to being a left-sided No10, opposite Bryan Mbeumo.
