Manchester United are gearing up to host Sunderland at Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend. The Red Devils will be looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat to Brentford before the international break, having only managed to secure seven points from their first six matches of the season.

Ruben Amorim has been grappling with a host of injuries throughout the campaign, and that trend looks set to continue as United prepare to face Sunderland . The Red Devils boss provided an update on the squad's fitness during a press conference on Friday.

United have already faced one of the newly-promoted clubs from the Championship this season, having beaten Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford at the end of August. However, this time, Amorim will be forced to try and beat Sunderland with some key players on the sidelines.

Here, Mirror Football looks into the current injury woes at United ahead of the Premier League clash against Sunderland.

Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from an ACL injury sustained midway through last season, which has seen him on the sidelines for several months.

There is yet to be a timeframe reported for when United hope to have Martinez back available.

Potential return date: Unknown.

Amad was absent from United's loss to Brentford due to personal leave granted by the club following a family bereavement.

Amorim has confirmed that Amad should be available to play against Sunderland this weekend.

Potential return date: Sunderland (H) - October 4 - Premier League.

Noussair Mazraoui is currently out of action due to an injury that saw him miss last weekend's defeat to Brentford.

The Morocco international is expected to remain on the sidelines until after the international break, with a return being targeted for later this month.

Potential return date: Liverpool (A) - October 19 - Premier League.

Casemiro served a one-match suspension after he picked up two yellow cards during the win over Chelsea last month.

The Brazilian missed the defeat to Brentford last week, and is now available for United once again.

Return date: Sunderland (H) - October 4 - Premier League.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
