In 2022, Kenny was diagnosed with prostate cancer and received treatment before undergoing a successful operation.

Following his recovery, Kenny, 53, appeared alongside Gabby on her podcast, where they had a candid discussion about the aftermath of treatment, including sexual health .

According to research, as many as 76 per cent of men suffer from erectile dysfunction after being treated for prostate cancer.

And despite the wider positives of spreading awareness and open discussion about the sensitive topic - during which Gabby revealed Kenny was "still fully functioning" - Reuben admitted he has got some stick over the conversations.

Reuben, who now plays for Sale Sharks after joining from Northampton Saints, told the Telegraph tongue-in-cheek: "I will openly say now that I said: ‘Can. You. Please. Stop’.

"I remember being in the gym at Saints and the podcast was being played for half the gym session. It was only my second or third month there!

“I did not know that that podcast had happened until I had heard it and I remember saying to her: ‘What have you been talking about online?’

“‘It’s good!’ she said. I said: ‘I’m sure it is but you do have a late-teenage son in a rugby environment, so you have to think about that!’

"Maybe Lois [Reuben’s twin sister] was not affected at university with her friends but I might have been."

As it turned out, Gabby also accidentally revealed that her son would be joining the Sharks during a separate discussion last year.

Laughing, he continued: “And [unlike the transfer reveal] that wasn’t a slip-up! She wasn’t hiding talking about that.

"But, yeah, I got a bit of stick from a few lads I knew here when [the transfer reveal] came out. Mum didn’t think it was a big deal.

"My mum said it was kind of my fault – but it wasn’t really. She asked me when I thought they would announce it and I said either next week or the following week.

"The following Tuesday she said the move was happening and they had planned on doing it a week or so later.

"I had a long day at training, had a quick nap, woke up, looked at my phone: ‘Woah, what is going on?’"

Gabby herself has spoken about her son's reaction to her podcast.

Depending on the cause, you may still be able to get an erection at other times, such as when you wake up.

Sometimes you might also have low sex drive.

Possible causes include stress, tiredness, having too much booze, as well as some medicines.

But if your ED is persistent, it might be caused by:

She said: "He's like, 'Mum, can you stop talking about your sex life, because now I go into work, they play clips in the dressing room. It would be helpful if you could just shut up for a while'.

"And I'm like, 'Actually Reuben, next week's episode — just on that'."

She joked: "We don't just talk about my sex life, can I just say."

During his appearance on the podcast in 2023, Kenny revealed: "Six months on, I would say I'm physically 100 per cent, mentally 100 per cent, feel good.

"From a sexual point of view, it's not consistent. As the surgeon said to me, this could take 18 months.

"Within a month, I was getting movement, where he says, 'That's amazing'. So it's just not as consistent."

He and Gabby also spoke about the use of a * pump to bring erectile function back to normal.

Reuben also lifted the lid on how his father's cancer diagnosis impacted him, explaining how it was a shock because "you never think it's going to happen to your dad".

He also added that during his battle, Reuben felt an added drive to make his dad proud.
