Mikel Arteta has been told that the signing of Eberechi Eze should see Arsenal finally win the Premier League as pressure ramps up on the Spaniard to deliver after a stellar summer of recruitment.

The Crystal Palace ace, who spearheaded their FA Cup success last year, is due to sign for the Gunners and further bolster their attacking line-up. Arsenal have pipped Tottenham , hijacking their move for the England international.

Eze has proved himself to be among the most impressive talents in England's top flight and will now make the step up to a genuine title challenger. The winger joins a squad that already boasts the likes of Bukayo Saka , Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Summer signing Viktor Gyokeres adds even more quality.

And now the 27-year-old, who is set to cost £67.5million, will add his name to Arteta's squad with Paul Merson now adamant the man in the dugout should be able to deliver.

He told Sky Sports : "I think Arsenal win the league with Eze. They had a chance without him because it's a real heads or tails season with Liverpool , and Man City played well on the opening weekend, but Eze help get them over the line."

Arteta has presided over three second place finishes in a row with Arsenal's wait for a Premier League title stretching to 21 years. The ex-Manchester City assistant has also failed to win a trophy since claiming the FA Cup five years ago despite continued investment.

There is now huge expectation on the Arsenal boss to overhaul the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City with Eze's signing further increasing their attacking output, which was a problem last term, especially when injuries struck.

Arsenal dropped numerous points against the teams in the bottom half, who often sat deep, with Merson confident Eze can address that problem.

"We've seen it over the last few years where they have struggled to break teams down when it gets right to the business end of a game and the business end of a season," he said.

"For me, that's where Eze comes in at Arsenal. He's got the X-factor and in tight, tight games, he has the ability to break a low block down. At home, against the lesser teams, where they have 70 to 80 per cent of the ball, let Eze go and do what he wants because he will make something happen."

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
