No assurances Manchester United will look to sign another left-back as Diego Leon is doing really well behind-the-scenes

Manchester United summer arrival Diego Leon is doing really well behind-the-scenes and the Red Devils believe there is a big future ahead of him, according to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs . The 18-year-old Paraguay international left wing-back moved to the Old Trafford club in July having signed for Man United since January, but he has yet to make his official first-team debut. Leon featured for Man United in pre-season, playing against Leeds United, West Ham United and Bournemouth, but the former Cerro Porteno star will have to wait for his debut given the options available to head coach Ruben Amorim on the left.
The Red Devils have been linked with signing a wingback next year, but Jacobs believes nothing is certain yet as the club rate the teenager highly.
“I think Antonee Robinson at Fulham was looked at during the summer,” he told The United Stand .
“A profile like that, I think, is going to be the type of player, even if it’s not him specifically.
“But let’s see whether or not they move on the left-hand side because from what I hear Diego Leon is doing really well, and there’s a big future ahead of him. And there are other current options on that left-hand side too.”
His first competitive appearance in Man United colours came in a Premier League 2 outing at Liverpool last month, and he featured for the under-21s again in the 5-2 EFL Trophy group stage defeat at Barnsley on Monday. Leon will hope to keep doing enough to convince Amorim of his quality, but he may need to wait until the FA Cup to have a chance of making his debut.
The festive period could also give him an opportunity to finally play for the first-team as the Red Devils boss could be forced to give the likes of Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui much-needed rest when there are few days of rest in between games. Leon also has Diogo Dalot ahead of him in the pecking order at left wing-back, which makes his chances of breaking into the team slimmer.
