Nottingham Forest identify shock replacement for under-fire Ange Postecoglou

Sean Dyche has emerged as Evangelos Marinakis’s first choice option to replace Ange Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest manager.

Postecoglou was brought into replace Nuno Espirito Santo after the Portuguese coach was dismissed just three games into the new season having led the club back into Europe last term.

The Australian, who parted ways with Tottenham after winning the Europa League in May, is still to win any of his seven games since arriving at the City Ground.

After their seventh place finish last season, Forest have slumped to 17 th and are just one place above the relegation zone having not won since the opening day of the new season.

Postecoglou’s future at the club is already in growing doubt with The Daily Telegraph reporting Forest are prepared to turn to Dyche if they do decide to make a change.

Dyche, who lives in the Nottingham area, is without a club having last worked at Everton . Fulham boss Marco Silva is another option admired by Marinakis but Forest would face paying a large compensation fee even if they did manage to convince him to leave Craven Cottage.

Steve Cooper is another option for a return to the City Ground but he only recently landed a new role in charge of Danish outfit Brondby.

Forest are also without a win in Europe this season, picking up a credible draw away to Real Betis before they were beaten at home to Midtjylland to undo that good work.

After the defeat, Postecoglou was booed by Forest fans along with chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning!’

Defeat away to Newcastle before the international break piled more pressure on the former Celtic boss who could need a win against Chelsea next Saturday to save his skin.

‘Look, we’ve gone through this period where it’s three-and-a-half weeks since I’ve come in and things haven’t gone the way that everyone would have loved,’ Postecoglou said after the defeat at Newcastle.
