Chelsea and Arsenal icon Petr Cech's son has signed his professional contract with a Premier League rival.
Damian, 16, is also a goalkeeper and is now following in his father's footsteps by securing a professional deal with a London team.
However, he has instead decided to take his first steps into football with Fulham.
On social media, Damian shared a photo of himself signing the deal with the London club alongside his parents, captioning it: "Forever grateful."
He was born in 2009 during Petr Cech’s time at Chelsea.
The young goalkeeper previously featured in Chelsea’s academy but chose to sign his first professional contract with Fulham, having joined the club last year.
Interestingly, he also served as a goaltender for Guildford Phoenix's Under-9 ice hockey team.
His father, also played hockey following the end of his football career in 2019. "That’s [hockey] what I wanted to do," Cech said in 2023 in an interview with The Times . "I played a little bit but then obviously my path was in football so this is kind of like coming back to my childhood.
"Well, I had Hasek, who is one of the best ever ice hockey goalies, an absolute legend from the Czech Republic," Cech added. "I wanted to be like him and that was one of my attractions to ice hockey again."
Cech senior also played ice hockey for teams including Oxford City Stars, Chelmsford Chieftains, and Belfast Giants.
Outside of the rink, he took on the role of Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor in June 2019. In 2019, he landed a role as Chelsea's technical and performance advisor.
But he left the club three years later when Todd Boehly took over at Stamford Bridge. However, he is uncertain about whether he would potentially return to football.
"It depends," Cech declared at the time. "I’m not the youngest, so it depends on my health and my motivation. But I’ve enjoyed my time here at Chelmsford because of the people and the boys in the dressing-room.
"So let’s see what will come and it depends as well on my future in terms of getting back to working in football or not. I’ll leave the door open. I will see what comes in during the summer and then I will make my decisions."
The 43-year-old is also an avid musician and frequently shares videos of himself playing the drums on YouTube .
