Relief for Barcelona as key player trains normally with national team after injury scare

Earlier this week, FC Barcelona were given an injury scare as key winger Lamine Yamal was taken off during Spain’s match against Bulgaria due to a back problem.

Considering that the 18-year-old had already experienced some discomfort in the region during the La Liga game vs Rayo Vallecano before the international break, the situation caused some concern.

Soon, though, it emerged that the issue was nothing serious and that Lamine would be okay to face Turkey in Spain’s next fixture.

Even then, it was reported that the Spain NT medical and coaching staff will be monitoring Lamine very closely as they prepare for Sunday’s game against Turkey.

Ahead of the game in Konya tomorrow, though, the 18-year-old wonderkid was seen training normally with the rest of the La Roja squad.

Indeed, Lamine walked out to train with his Spain teammates and went through the routines at the usual pace, suggesting that he was feeling fit and fine.

This will come as a huge relief for Barcelona as they are already sweating over the fitness of several players.

After all, Hansi Flick lost Gavi to a knee injury last week and Alejandro Balde to a hamstring issue recently, with both expected to be out until the PSG fixture on 1 October.

Frenkie de Jong also returned with a minor injury from the Netherlands camp and is scheduled to undergo medical tests on Monday to determine the extent of his issue.

Adding Lamine’s name to the growing list of casualties would have been a bitter blow for Barcelona , but everything looks good with the 18-year-old for now and he is likely to play some part for Spain against Turkey tomorrow.
