It's a result that piles even more pressure on boss Martin who has now won just five of his 17 games in charge.

A large group of angry Gers supporters gathered in the car park outside the stadium after the game and blocked the team bus.

It meant the players were forced to be kept inside the ground for almost half an hour, effectively trapped inside the tunnel.

Martin himself had to be given a police escort to a car in order to allow him to leave safely.

The bus had to be moved to another location to allow the squad to eventually board the vehicle separated from the fans, with a line of police officers also moving to the scene.

When the players did emerge, they were met with a barrage of abuse and x-rated insults.

Many fans were heard shouting "s****bags", with captain James Tavernier in particular on the receiving end of the vitriol.

Cops had to disperse the fans and force them to retreat in order to let the bus move and one fan even ran at the bus as it reversed.

As footage of the scenes was shown on Sky Sports, former Rangers captain David Weir who was covering the game as a pundit.

He said: "It's never the answer, it obviously tells you how the emotions are and the feelings around the club at the moment.

"That doesn't work for anyone, it doesn't help anyone and it doesn't improve anything.

"But it tells you the emotion, you could sense that emotion coming into the stadium today. People aren't happy.

"We don't want to see scenes like that, hopefully they can get it solved.

"The players are coming to work, they should be able to leave in the same way."

Ex-Gers striker Kris Boyd added: "The fans have had enough.

"We've been saying it for weeks and weeks now. They pay good money to go and watch their football team and listen there are ways to protest and go about things.

"But they have had enough.

"They’re sick to the back teeth of the same excuses being churned out week after week and the same performances, but you can’t condone that."
