Ruud van Nistelrooy torn apart by ex-Leicester striker in damning verdict of Man Utd icon

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been brutally put down by former Leicester City striker Odsonne Edouard. The Manchester United icon was in charge of the forward during his ill-fated spell with the Foxes.
Van Nistelrooy took over from Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium last November, but won just five of his 27 Premier League matches in charge. Leicester ultimately finished 10 points adrift of safety and became the first top-flight club in history to go nine games without scoring at home.
Unsurprisingly, the spell did not convince many of his managerial merits. Edouard, who was on loan at Leicester last season from Crystal Palace , was not impressed by the Dutchman.
The former Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic striker played six matches under Cooper before being completely cast aside by Van Nistelrooy. Edouard made the bench just once under the ex-PSV Eindhoven boss.
After finding his form with Lens this season, Edouard reckons Van Nistelrooy was not a 'great coach'. The Frenchman has three goals in six Ligue 1 outings this term.
"Being a great striker doesn't necessarily mean being a great coach," Edouard told L'Equipe. "After training, I would do an even harder session with my fitness coach. I didn't give up.
"Leicester, it had a professional impact on me. I don't really have any reasons.
"At the beginning, I played a little [under Steve Cooper], then things didn't work out with Van Nistelrooy.

"I didn’t get along well with Van Nistelrooy. I found myself blocked for seven months without playing."
Van Nistelrooy is still without a job, having left Leicester in the summer. The Foxes handed the former Manchester United star a stay of execution to avoid a negative impact on their profit and sustainability standing.
“I would like to personally thank the Leicester City players, coaches, academy and all the staff I have worked with for their professionalism and dedication during my time at the Club and to thank the fans for their support, and take this opportunity to wish the Club well for the future," Van Nistelrooy said upon his exit.
The Dutch coach's exit was confirmed just days before Leicester returned for pre-season, despite a decision being made on his future after relegation.
