Senne Lammens decision taken, fans will be delighted
Saturday’s Premier League test against high-flying Sunderland was expected to prove difficult for a beleaguered Manchester United , who came into the game on the back of heavy scrutiny on their head coach.
In the end, the game at Old Trafford proved to be a cakewalk for the Red Devils, with Ruben Amorim’s tactical ploy of playing more direct paying off handsomely.
Benjamin Sesko was superb, while the Portuguese tactician’s decision to start Senne Lammens in goal proved to be another masterstroke .
The Belgian pulled off two incredible saves, including a 1v1 chance. His shot-stopping skills were well-known from his time in Royal Antwerp.
What was most impressive was his command over the penalty box. He came out twice to collect deep crosses, instead of trying to punch the ball away like Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir frequently got caught trying to do.
And the Old Trafford faithful responded in kind, roaring every time he caught the ball. He went long from goal kicks and proved to be a useful weapon in the end.

Amorim praised the summer recruit but he has made it clear in the past that he is yet to choose his permanent No.1, which means both Senne Lammens and Bayindir will be given minutes.
That is a cause for concern given the kind of form the Turkish keeper has shown throughout the season.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Lammens has now adapted to his new surroundings and will be given a run of games to try and cement his position in the starting lineup.
“52 touches, 11 ball recoveries, solid distribution and three saves, the most notable of which denied Granit Xhaka and Chemsdine Talbi.
“A clean sheet for Senne Lammens on his Manchester United debut. Lammens expected to get a run of games now he’s acclimatised,” the reporter wrote on X (formerly Twitter ).
With Liverpool up next, Amorim will be hoping his new signing can go from strength to strength. United’s season depends on it.
