Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has altered his view on the Gunners' prospects of lifting the trophy, as he now reckons Mikel Arteta's squad possess the necessary qualities. The North London outfit hold a three-point advantage over early contenders Manchester City and Liverpool , whilst AFC Bournemouth have emerged as surprise challengers following an impressive opening to the campaign.
The club have endured a string of close calls in recent campaigns having completed the season as runners-up in the championship battle. Across the previous three seasons, Manchester City and Liverpool have secured the prestigious trophy in May.
However, this term Arsenal have laid the gauntlet and have emerged as the early frontrunners.
Despite their setback against Liverpool, they have recovered to spearhead the race following the Merseyside club's notable slump in results.
Arsenal have been considered favourites previously, but their absence from the pinnacle of English football has now stretched beyond two decades.
Henry has consistently believed Arsenal could return to the summit, admittedly from a supporter's viewpoint, but the French legend now insists two crucial developments have transformed their aspirations into a possibility.
"The squad is bigger, and we must respect whatever the rotation is going to be from Mikel Arteta ," he said, speaking to Betway.
"Having the choice is what he wanted. They analysed what they were missing in the past three years when players like Odegaard, Saliba and Saka got injured, and the club felt they were short.
"Are the youngsters going to come in more often? You need to ask Mikel. But as an Arsenal fan, you love to see Nwaneri, Dowman and Lewis-Skelly, and Saka is from the academy as well.
"I always say that to win the league, you need a squad. Having some guys who can jump in when the No. 9 is not scoring is what will make the difference.
"I used to feel that Arsenal could win the league as a fan, because you dream and you hope. For the first time in a long time, I can see this team winning the league – not just as an Arsenal fan, but as a football fan and an analyst. I see it, because they are united."
The title race picture will become clearer with each passing weekend.
Liverpool could pile further pressure on Arsenal when they take on Brentford at 8pm on Saturday.
Yet the reigning champions have struggled on their recent trips to the capital, with losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea contributing to their four-game winless streak.
Arsenal and City both kick off at 2pm on Sunday, facing Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.
By 5pm, the latest twist in the title race will have unfolded.
