Tragedy as Romelu Lukaku's father Roger dies aged just 58

ROMELU LUKAKU has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his dad following his death aged 58.

The striker shared a photo of his father Roger and himself as a small boy.

He captioned the post: "Thank you for teaching me everything I know.

"I’m forever grateful and appreciate you. Life will never be the same Protecting and guiding me like no else could. I won’t be the same.

"The pain and tears are flowing big time. But God will give me the strength to get myself back together.

"Merci pour tout Roger Menama Lukaku Vieux Roy ( for his friends). Mon Papa."

Tributes have poured in for Roger from across the football community.

The Belgian FA wrote in a statement: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lukaku family, following the passing of Roger Lukaku."

Rio Ferdinand and Manchester City and Belgium star Jeremy Doku left heart emojis underneath Lukaku's Instagram post.

While his Napoli team-mate Juan Jesus wrote: "Stay strong my brother 🤍🕊️"
