Arsenal's summer transfer window has come to an end and there is plenty of room for optimism if you are a Gunner.

The addition of Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze late in the window was the icing on a pretty elegantly built cake. Arsenal have backed Mikel Arteta in the market impressively, and now it is up to the Spaniard to deliver results on the pitch.

Now the summer transfer window has slammed shut, and the task of assessing the business done by teams and details about what happened over the last few months behind the scenes are starting to emerge.

Gyokeres hints at true Arsenal feelings

Speaking on Alexander Isak's controversial move to Liverpool, Viktor Gyokeres hinted at his reasoning behind leaving Sporting in the manner that he did earlier in the window. "When it's a player that is not wanted in a club I think it's the total opposite, he doesn't have any power, the club can literally do whatever they want," he explained after stating that he has already congratulated Isak on his move.

What FL says: It was well publicised that Gyokeres and Sporting's working relationship became deeply fractured as the striker tried to move to Arsenal. His comments regarding Isak's switch to Anfield suggest that Gyokeres is fully aware of the disposable nature of football and clubs in particular. While it may have been a bit of a red flag at the time, Arsenal fans perhaps can see why the Swede took such a hardline stance with his previous club, which should alleviate fears about his attitude moving forwards.

Berta stance on Zubimendi

According to The Athletic , signing Martin Zubimendi as Arsenal's new No.6 would not have been Andrea Berta's first choice deal. However, there was little that could be done, as the signing was already too far advanced when Berta arrived to replace Edu.

While exact alternatives that Berta would have preferred are unclear, it is thought Atletico Madrid’s Pablo Barrios would have been high on the sporting director's wishlist.

What FL says: While he may not have been Berta's first choice, Zubimendi is doing all the right things to try and prove that he is the right player to be in the heart of that midfield. Berta did the right thing not to jump in and veto the deal right off the bat; it could have turned into a contentious issue which would have only proven to be a distraction. We wonder, as the season goes on, whether the sporting director will change his original stance on the deal.
