🚨 BREAKING: Man City confirm derby absence for Omar Marmoush

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush has been ruled out of Sunday’s Manchester derby after sustaining a knee injury while on international duty with Egypt.

City confirmed Marmoush absence via a statement on Wednesday having picked up a knee knock for Egypt on Tuesdat.

The 26-year-old striker limped off within the opening minutes of his country’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso and was later diagnosed with a bruised knee ligament. He will now return to Manchester for further assessment and the beginning of his rehabilitation programme.

City medical staff are expected to conduct additional scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the damage. Early indications suggest the injury could involve the medial collateral ligament, which typically requires anything from a short rest period to several weeks on the sidelines, depending on severity.

Marmoush was seen leaving Cairo on crutches and wearing a splint, raising concerns that his absence could be longer than initially hoped. Should that be the case, City may need to rely more heavily on Phil Foden and Jérémy Doku in attack during a demanding period of fixtures.
