Christian Eriksen responds after criticism for what he did after leaving Man Utd

Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to become a Wolfsburg player after taking his time to find his next club.
The Denmark international left United as a free agent at the end of last season, having spent three years at Old Trafford. Eriksen was expected to have plenty of suitors, including interest from the Premier League .
However, the 33-year-old remained one of Europe’s most high-profile players without a club, even beyond the start of domestic seasons. Without a new employer, Eriksen decided to train with Swedish club Malmo to maintain his fitness.
But compatriot Thomas Gravesen wasn’t impressed with his plan and accused him of a lack of ambition. But just a few days later, his wait seems to have come to an end, with multiple reports saying he has signed a deal with Wolfsburg.
Tipsbladet have revealed that Eriksen has already made the trip from Denmark to Germany, with just the formalities left to complete the move. He will play in the Bundesliga for the first time, having also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen in recent days.
Ambitious Championship club Wrexham were also previously said to be in the mix for the player, while newly promoted fancied keeping him in the English top flight.
The news of Eriksen signing on the dotted line is good news for the Danish national side as well, with the influential midfielder not selected in their latest squad.
It will also be music to the ears of Gravesen, who was left perplexed at Eriksen's decision to train with Malmo. "It is incomprehensible to me that he chooses Malmo," he said in a recent interview with Fotboll Skanalen.

"It is not a club that he can go to because he cannot sign a contract with them and we have some clubs in Denmark that are much, much better than Malmo.
"This looks like a friendly thing, where Christian Eriksen is over and having fun with some friends. Where is the ambition to play football?
"We talk about him being without a club for three months, but he has been without a club since January because he has been able to sign a contract with a new club ever since. He has been dragging his feet on it for a long time.
"If he wants to play for the national team, what signal does this send? What signal does going up and having fun with friends in Malmo send?”

Eriksen signed with the Red Devils on a free transfer at the start of the 2022/23 season having rebuilt his career with Brentford following his cardiac arrest in 2021. In three campaigns, he appeared more than 100 times for United, winning the EFL Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup the following season.
He remained a part of Ruben Amorim’s squad, albeit becoming less influential as the season progressed. He was an unused substitute as United lost the Europa League final to Tottenham in May.
