The first Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium is fast approaching, and for Mikel Arteta and the supporters, it is an incredibly exciting moment. The news that Eberechi Eze will be coming to the club has got the expectation levels bubbling over.

That helped to considerably raise the mood after it was confirmed that Kai Havertz had suffered a knee injury . Arteta will now have to cope without one of his key attackers in addition to Gabriel Jesus too.

Tom Canton

From a personal perspective, as the season goes on and we get into the busier parts of the schedule, there will be times where matches like this against opposition that the Gunners are expected to dominate will see much more rotation. Trying to keep the side fresh and ready for the Champions League and cup competitions will have to come into the manager’s thoughts.

However, with a one-game-per-week setup currently, there is little need for too much change. That said, I would like to see Noni Madueke given the chance to start in the Arsenal team from the left in place of Gabriel Martinelli.

Equally, Jurrien Timber comes in at right-back with Ben White facing some fitness questions ahead of the game. I’ve also kept Riccardo Calafiori who needs a run of games because I am very excited to see what he brings to the side this season if he can stay fit.

Canton’s Arsenal XI vs Leeds United: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Gyokeres, Madueke.

You don't fix what's not broken, right? Well, Arsenal's opening-day performance at Manchester United was far from perfect, but it was also far from broken.

Most of the team should stay together without much need for rotation at this stage. Raya is in goal, as he will be for almost all of the season, with White retaining his place at right-back. He does add a different element when fit.

Saliba and Gabriel are together, of course, with Calafiori doing enough to hold off Lewis-Skelly at left-back for now. In midfield, there is no need to change just yet.

It is in the attack that questions will be asked. Arsenal fell well short of their usual standard when in transition and it was a whole team thing.

Martinelli is wildly out of form and Madueke deserves a start. He might not get many more from the left with Eze coming in but there is still enough to his one-on-one game to directly make an immediate impact here.
