Manchester United's brilliant run of form continued as they conquered Brighton on Saturday. Ruben Amorim's side have won three top-flight games on the spin.

Despite coming under serious pressure to begin the campaign , Amorim seems to have turned the page. His United have won five of their last seven matches and have shot up the Premier League table.

Against Brighton, some summer recruits were on full display as Matheus Cunha opened the scoring with his first United goal and Bryan Mbeumo added a double in the second half. One player who was absent from the 4-2 win was Luke Shaw .

Shaw impressed in the 2-1 victory over rivals Liverpool last week and Amorim has now shed some light on his absence. Mirror Football brings you all the latest news from Old Trafford, including the reason United's manager has been stressing.

This run of fixtures has marked a significant turnaround from how Amorim began this campaign. His side slumped to just four points from their first four matches and were upset in the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town.

But these wins have shifted the atmosphere at Old Trafford. New signing Cunha admits the head coach's mindset has changed too and Amorim was stressed when his team were losing matches.

"Everyone has full confidence in Amorim. He is someone who pushes us forward," Cunha said after the Brighton win. "He is always very stressed until we start to win, and then he improves every day.

"Of course, he deserves this. Man United deserve this. This needs to be the normal for this club. I am so happy to be a part of this. Amazing day, I will remember this."

Cunha starred in the victory over Brighton but English defender Shaw was absent. He had featured regularly on the left side of Amorim's defence to begin the season.

Shaw was a standout performer in the win against Liverpool and he helped deal with their bitter rivals' attacking threat well. Amorim disclosed that the reason he missed the Brighton clash was due to illness.

"Luke Shaw is fine. He had a virus during the week," said Amorim when asked about Shaw. "He struggled a little bit in the game, but he's going to be ready for the next one."

United travel to Nottingham Forest next and it is expected that Shaw will be back in the starting XI as they set their sights on four league victories in a row.

The win against Brighton followed a stunning away victory against Liverpool. This 2-1 result was United's first triumph at Anfield for nearly a decade.

Ex-United defender Gary Neville thinks that these two results make for the best week of Amorim's tenure, but despite this his job is not 100 per cent secure.

"I think that it feels like his best week in the job," Neville stated on Sky Sports . "I think where we've all been with it, I wouldn't have been surprised if we talked about him losing his job. I was thinking he was under massive pressure after going into the international break in October.

"I felt as though that change could be imminent. He's not out of the woods yet and it's certainly not time to get carried away but I think Manchester United are now where they thought they probably would be."
