Manchester United have ‘reached an agreement’ to offload Tyrell Malacia on loan to Turkish club Eyupspor, according to reports.

Malacia, who was signed by former United boss Erik ten Hag, is in Ruben Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ and doesn’t seem to have a future at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old Netherlands international left-back almost joined Spanish side Elche on loan on deadline day but the move eventually collapsed .

Malacia spent time on loan at Dutch club PSV last season and is now set for another spell away from United with the defender set to join Eyupspor.

‘Eyüpspor has reached an agreement with Manchester United for the loan transfer of Tyrell Malacia,’ Reşat Can Özbudak, journalist at YS TV, posted on X . ‘The player’s decision is awaited!’

The Premier League summer transfer window has closed but Turkish clubs can still sign players as their summer window is open until September 12.

Malacia has played a total of 47 games for United since he joined the club from Feyenoord in a deal worth a reported £13m before add-ons in 2022.

The Dutchman’s contract is set to expire next summer, meaning he may have already played his last game for United if he joins Eyupspor on a season-long loan.

Eyupspor, based in the Eyupsultan district of Istanbul, finished sixth in the Super Lig last season – the top-flight of Turkish football.

United have three left-backs in their squad ahead of Malacia in the pecking order – Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon.

Former United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen admitted last month that Malacia’s move to United three years ago ‘never really worked out’.

Discussing Chelsea’s move for Jorrel Hato, Meulensteen told CoinPoker : ‘It will be interesting to see how quickly he settles in. I believe he’ll adapt fairly quickly.

‘However, we’ve also seen similar moves, like Tyrell Malacia to Manchester United in a similar position, that never really worked out. So, there’s always a bit of uncertainty surrounding these transfers.’

United legend Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, urged his old club to sell Malacia earlier this year .

Asked about Malacia’s future – as well as Marcus Rashford and Antony, who’ve since joined Barcelona and Real Betis – Ferdinand said: ‘Get them out man! Sorry, I’m just being honest.

‘The more those guys are around… there’s just bad noise. They all want to go, they’re all happy to go, so get them out and start afresh.’
