Arsenal have a week or so to recharge their batteries before they're back in action. After storming past Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening, the Gunners will turn their attention to what could be a hugely significant clash in the Premier League title race .
Liverpool will lock horns with the Mikel Arteta's at Anfield next weekend before the international break gets underway. While the north Londoners will hope to extend their perfect start to the new campaign, they could be without some key players .
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are currently nursing injuries, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were forced off against Leeds and Ben White remains a doubt. The summer transfer window doesn't shut until Monday, September 1, so the Gunners have the option of bringing in some last-minute cover.
Alonso provides Rodrygo update
Speaking to reporters ahead of Real Madrid's clash against Real Oviedo, Xabi Alonso provided an update on Rodrygo's future at the Santiago Bernabeu. The 24-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.
"From my perspective, the season and my time at the club starts now," said Alonso, as quoted by the club website , when asked why Rodrygo didn't play the opening game of the La Liga season last weekend. "The Club World Cup was something different.
"The squad we had, I knew it would be different to what we are building, so we've only played one game. Every decision about who plays, who makes the eleven, are mine, and I make my assessments with help from the coaching staff.
"We consider what we think is best for each game. Of course, I speak to a lot of players, and I've spoken to Rodrygo as well," added Alonso. "I'm happy with the squad we have, but you always have to be open-minded. I don't know what will happen, but I'm happy with my squad."
Bayern consider Arsenal swoop
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg , Bayern Munich have emerged as a potential suitor for Fabio Vieira. The Arsenal midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Stuttgart this summer, but the deal has proven difficult to seal.
The report claims that the Gunners are planning to offload Vieira this summer, whether that's permanently or on loan. It's said that Arsenal have received numerous enquiries for the Portugal international, who spent last season on loan at Porto.
